An RSS feed is a stream of data that offers a list of articles on a site or section of a site and update whenever new, relevant information appears online. The feed usually contains headlines, article summaries, and links to full articles.
The beauty of an RSS feed is that it saves you the trouble of having to keep up with a website by checking it manually. Instead, the process is automated and you get notified automatically whenever the site is updated.
Through the use of a news reader or Live Bookmark that processes RSS feeds, you can view headlines and article excerpts from multiple sources, all in one place.
A few popular news readers are Bloglines, FeedDemon, Pluc, and Netvibes. Live Bookmarks are a feature of the Firefox and Safari browsers and function much the same as RSS readers.
